THE WOODIES

Formed in 1992, the Woodies can be loosely described as a Rockabilly band and are the side-project of Sharks founder member Alan Wilson. Having appeared on numerous compilation CD’s and most notably having had 4 tracks on the Hot Dog 10 LP and CD (Mental Disorder records) they are now recording their debut CD ‘Beef Jerky’. The band go out only occasionally due to the members other commitments, although last year they did get as far as a slot at a festival in Germany.

The current Woodies line up consists of:

Alan Wilson - guitars/vocals/other bits and pieces.

Mark Tomes - slap bass

Ben Turner - drums/backing vocals. Some of you may have heard Ben before as he’s played drums on two Frantic Flintstones CD’s  -‘Jamboree’ (Anagram) and ‘Hits From The Bong’ (Vampirella) as well as a few tracks on Frenzy’s last CD ‘Nine - O - Nine’ (Count Orlock).

Previous members of the Woodies include bass players:

Andy Maxted (ex-Wanderers and currently playing for Just Rockin’).

Mark Limb (formerly known as Mark Young who also did a stint with the Wanderers as well as a host of other bands including 20 Flight Rock and The Firebirds. He also appeared on the Frantic Flintstones CD ‘The X-Ray Sessions).

And Rene Karlsson from Denmark who played on a few recordings. He now plays bass for The Taggy Tones and the Wild Wax Combo.
